Great trip!
Leaving tomorrow and already missing it! We usually vacation in Mexico at a different chain but wow!! We are RIU fans now… everything from the food, the drinks, the pool and beach but most of all the entire staff! My favorites were the pool waiter who even put our bottle of champagne on ice for us but most of all Brenda at the desk that saved me from a melt down over checking into our flight home! Thank you again! We are now fans and God willing will be back again!!

Disappointing response from hotel
There was a distinct odor in the room. Finally we realized it was mold under the chairs (both our rooms). Jacuzzi was not working neither were the jets in the pool ( Pool water was on the chilly side). They promoted certain drinks and they would say we ran out of olives, bananas, etc. Only to find they had the items inside. Seemed they were hoarding them. I fell in the room. No one from the management checked in on me even after I went to the front desk and showed them my foot and pictures. What really is concerning is the follow up. They apologized. I feel they should have offered a credit.

Great Week at the Palace!
We just returned from a week at the RIU. I was a little worried about it because of the reviews. I had no issues whatsoever. The food was excellent, rooms a little dated but ok, fully stocked mini bar, consistent maid service daily. The workers are all very friendly and hard working. I would definitely recommend this resort. A special shout out to Henry who alway made sure my wine glass was full at dinner! We also ate at the Italian and the Kristol specialty restaurants. It’s first come first serve so you will have to get there a bit early and wait on line.

Avoid !
Was invited to a wedding. Have no issue with front desk personnel however....... Policy of Riu to HOLD Passports until daily pass plastic ribbon is return is ABSURD ! They will not return your Passport is you do not return your daily wrist plastic ribbon ( which can come off any time ). Avoid this place if you can !!!!

RIU Antillas - A+ hotel
Loved the hotel Riu Antilles - very clean, spacious beautifully decorated rooms, service fabulous-staff is amazing would definitely stay there again! Construction next door did not bother us at all, lots to do between 2 hotels-able to use RIU Palace next door for free also. Buffet was great-large selection of food. Steakhouse we did twice in 5-day stay-great food-did not care for having to line up 45 minutes prior to opening to get in - reservations for specialty restaurants would be a plus! and benches for the wait along walk ways for physically challenged. Other then that-we loved our stay.
