We had a great trip here, I would definitely recommend it for people looking to have a nice getaway! You definitely get what you pay for in terms of service, some of the meals were a lot better than others. The beach is definitely the highlight as it is absolutely beautiful. Don't expect too much!
I spent 9 nights at this hotel, we came there with my husband to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. I booked last minute so if I wanted all inclusive, I didn't have a choice but to book Riu as there was nothing else for my dates. I was very skeptical as I read so many bad reviews so let me start my own. I am a travel agent and I travel all over the world for many years, so trust me - my expectations are high and I know what I'm talking about. 1st of all if you don't book directly with them- you won't get an airport shuttle, private taxi will cost you about $50 one way. We got to the hotel the check in was easy and quick, we got a weird tasting non alcoholic drink as a welcome drink. We got to our room 528 which surprised me how outdated it was. This room is almost up front so it had a nice view. All they did for our anniversary was 3 balloons tied to the lamp and couple of fake flower petals 😆,pretty terrible. Every year we travel to different countries for our anniversary and this surprise was the worst one yet! Then we were moved to room 529 on the pool side, same outdated room just a bit different view. The next day we went to get breakfast at the buffet and I really thought that I will be fasting all next 9 days. Food: absolutely terrible, I will go in depth. Breakfast: absolutely the same every single day. Potatoes is the easiest dish to prepare- absolutely the worst hash browns you will ever try in your life. It's shocking to me how can you mess up the potatoes? Well, they took it to a new level for me. It is not edible and also looks terrible, like it was made a month ago. If you stay in the line to get eggs or omlett to be prepared to your liking- be aware,it will have no taste whatsoever. If you want a toast, be aware, there is no cream cheese🤦♀️ Lunch: the grill by the pool is very average, in 9 days I only had it once. The buffet is a bit better as at least you can make your own salad. Very average or worst hot dishes... Dinner: average at its best. Again, salad saved us. Terrible dessert every single day. Specialty restaurants have nothing special about them. Very poor decor, uncomfortable chairs, tables very close to each other so you are in the middle of someone else's conversation. When you walk to the steakhouse at 6.30 pm when they open you can see all the steaks already pre-made and sitting on the warmer, that's was super shocking to me. I ordered medium rare and I got medium well. So, don't expect an amazing food coming here. I've talked to some people who came here and it was there 1st all inclusive and they said they liked the food. I understand why, they have not been to an amazing all inclusive hotel and have not experienced what and how it is supposed to be. Drinks: very average, cheap alcohol, don't expect top shelf. Entertainment: overall pretty good. It starts by the pool at 10 am with yoga, volleyball twice a day on the beach, games by the pool and nightly Entertainment inside which is very average. People that do the entertainment are great. The beach: the best part of all of it- amazing. Very clear, gorgeous, warm waters. Never a problem to get a chair and umbrella. No service on the beach, you must go up on the stairs to get yourself a drink, so that's a big minus. Also, I have to mention 2 people that made my vacation much better; it's Terry on the front desk and Shaniqua who seves drinks by the pool. Those 2 ladies are absolutely amazing and because if them I didn't move to a different hotel. So, overall, if you want an amazing beach and you don't care that much about food or room- by all means book this hotel.

Total Disgrace Total Disappointment
As another guest mentioned Totally missing Riu Class. Stayed May 5-10 totally disappointed very small more like motel rooms very outdated reeked of mildew staff as others mention hit or miss female staff very rude and kept attitudes..never experienced this type of service very hard to get reservations at restaurants have to book 2 days in advance all buffet meals never hot and to make matters worse after breakfast day 2 seeing a roach crawl on buffet counter near food we ate outside the restaurant having to spend money we didn't want any parts of the food at riu we filmed the incident which hopefully trip advisor will allow me to share video if not I also have a picture. Showed these items to front desk supervisor told me sorry about inconvenience file complaint with corporate I did file a complaint 2 weeks ago no RESPONSE..this was a very disappointed trip and waste of money I won't visit anymore Rius after this experience and the lack of concern from corporate or management I'll spend my money with a resort who cares about their customers and there well being
